Pharmacist Visits daily to review your relative's medications and monitor its effects. We have a dedicated pharmacist (Helen McHale) on Intensive Care Unit
Dietitian Our Critical Care dietitian is Sarah Gavin

Microbiologist This is a specialist doctor who is involved in monitoring the risks of infection and provides expert advice when deciding which antibiotic treatment to give. A microbiology ward round happens three times a week in addition to the daily consultant ward round.

Radiographer Visits each day and may take chest x-rays as part of the daily assessment.

A Radiologist may perform various procedures such as ultrasound, CT or MRI. These investigations may happen on the unit or require the patient to be transferred to the radiology department. A member of the intensive care team will always escort the patient to the radiology department if they require a scan.

Echocardiographer A specialist sonographer may perform an echocardiogram ('echo') to help us assess heart function. An echo is a type of ultrasound bedside scan which looks specificially at the heart.
Student nurses and doctors Queen Alexandra Hospital is a teaching hospital so you will often seen student nurses at the bedside receiving tuition, or, under direct supervision, gaining practical experience by helping care for your relative. You will also see medical students being taught or accompanying the doctors.
